Sanga Kim, PhD
Assistant Professor of Research in the College of Education at the University of Texas at El Paso
Sanga Kim is an Assistant Professor of Research in the College of Education at the University of Texas at El Paso. She leads the Data Management Team for the Computing Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (CAHSI), one of the NSF National INCLUDES and BPC Alliance. Her research focuses on the learning experiences and outcomes of marginalized students, first-generation college students, and low-income students in STEM, with a strong emphasis on promoting equitable educational opportunities. Currently, Dr. Kim’s research focuses on noncognitive attributes, college experiences, and the career pathways of engineering and computer science students at Hispanic-serving institutions. She has contributed to several NSF-funded research projects, which include investigating departmental climate in STEM education, supporting working students in STEM, broadening equitable access to computing for K-12 students, and advancing K-12 computer science education. Dr. Kim holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Iowa, where she was awarded the prestigious Ballard and Seashore Dissertation Fellowship.
