Marie Plaisime

Marie Plaisime is a Ph.D. candidate in Medical Sociology at Howard University and a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Health Policy Research Scholar (HPRS). Her professional experiences include research at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Marie's research examines how structural racism in medicine and medical education jeopardizes healthcare delivery, access, and quality of care. Specifically, her work applies mixed-methods to examine the impact of racial bias and interracial anxiety training on medical students and its prevention of patient discrimination. Marie received her Bachelor of Arts in Health, Behavior, & Society from the University of Rochester and her Masters of Public Health from the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health in Philadelphia.
